Groundhog Blues Club presents...
Arrivals & Departure
VENUE ADDRESS: Bowring Park, Haygate Rd, Wellington, Telford, TF1 1QX
A map showing the town, car parks, railway and bus stations plus how to find Bowring Park can be found below.
Arrival:
If you are arriving by car, FREE parking is available at a number of long term car parks in the town, all within a 15 minute walk to the site.
If you require wheelchair access, you will be allowed to park in the small Bowring car park off Herbert Avenue (see map below). Please contact us via email groundhogbluesclub@gmail.com to book a parking space.
There are two main ways to walk from the town to Bowring Park and these are shown on the map as dotted lines. We would recommend the walk through the cemetery rather than along Haygate Road as it is mostly traffic free and enters Bowring Park immediately opposite the festival site. To find the cemetery, enter Union Road from Wrekin Road and proceed up the short hill to the top of Union Road – the cemetery entrance is on your right.
Alternatively, the no.101 bus which departs from the town bus station (heading towards Madeley) proceeds up Haygate Road and then along Holyhead Road where the two main park entrances can be found. It is just a 5-minute journey to the Powder Lane bus stop on Haygate Road and less than 10-minutes to the Herbert Avenue bus stop on Holyhead Road. The Herbert Avenue bus stop is closer to the festival site, so would be more sensible for anyone with mobility issues.
The bus station is adjacent to the railway station in the town and is accessible up a few steps or via an alternative step-free route through the town centre and along a short passageway next to the William Withering pub (Wetherspoons).
Another alternative to get from the town to the site is by taxi which can be booked via the Veezu app or by phoning 01952 501050.
If you are arriving by bicycle, please note that there is no designated or covered bicycle parking area in Bowring Park. You will be allowed to bring your bike inside of the festival fence but all bikes are the owners’ responsibility and are left at the owners’ risk.
Departure:
Festival attendees must leave the site by 10:30pm. Please leave the site quietly and respect our local residents. Please make sure when you leave the site that you do not leave any personal items behind and that you leave any rubbish in the bins provided.

Our festival aims to be as inclusive as possible.
The festival is held on grass. While we strive to make it accessible, please note that some areas may have uneven ground or, in case of heavy rain, limited accessibility.
Accessible parking for wheelchair users is available on site and will be marked on the festival map.
Disabled toilets will be available on site.
All music performances will take place in the marquee.
Under The Wrekin Acoustic Blues is committed to providing an inclusive experience for all attendees. We work to ensure our site, website, and services are accessible.
If you have specific requirements that you are concerned about, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at groundhogbluesclub@gmail.com. We're open to hearing what would be helpful to you, we'll do our best to give you the best festival experience we can.
Chairs:
We recommend bringing camping chairs for your comfort at the festival.
Dogs & Kids
Dogs:
Dogs are welcome at the festival, as long as they are well-behaved and kept on a lead at all times.
Please note that we expect dog owners to be responsible for cleaning up after their own dog.
Kids:
The Under The Wrekin Acoustic Blues is a family-friendly festival. It's hugely important to us to make sure that children are introduced to live music.
They'll have the freedom to run around the beautiful park whilst listening to some brilliant musicians showing them what they can achieve with a little practice. We hope to see them on the stage in a few years!
Please note that all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians remain responsible for the supervision and safety of their children at all times while at the festival.
Parents/guardians will be asked to write their mobile phone number on the wristbands of children under the age of 11.
Any lost children, or parents who have lost a child, should inform a festival steward or report to the Information Point (see map) immediately.
We cannot guarantee that the language used by our artists or the content of their songs will be entirely child-friendly, although we do our best to ensure programming in the daytime is suitable for children.
Please note that filming/photography will be taking place at the festival for promotional and archival purposes. The photographs and recordings made are likely to appear on our website. If you would prefer your child not to be photographed please let the photographer know or email us at groundhogbluesclub@gmail.com.
